How to recognise a piece you only half remember

Start with the series, because most anime soundtracks are written by one composer and the piano cues share a sound. Then think about speed rather than melody: a slow piece that drifts without a steady pulse is marked a piacere or rubato, and it will feel like it breathes. Something with a steady left hand under it will be in the flowing group. If it drove the scene forward, it is in the fast group.
